When to Make Changes
I had a conversation with a good friend the other day and it brought me back to a time before I started on my journey.
She was telling me about some of the setbacks she was dealing with, including slipping into old eating habits even though she had huge success with losing weight and getting her health back during the first few months of joining me.
She was frustrated with many aspects of her life and wanted to get back on track.
A few things became clear to me during our conversation. The first was that when everything else in life is going well, it's much easier to make dietary changes and stick to them.
More importantly, when life challenges us, that's when reverting back to basic self-care and good eating habits should become a priority instead of letting it be the first thing to go out the window.
Here's the thing...once I started making my health and weight a priority, it gave me the feeling that I had some control in my life. While everything else was out of my control, I actually did have control over what I chose to put in my mouth.
It flipped a switch inside of me from feeling like things were happening "to me" to "I make things happen". I felt empowered to make changes in other areas of my life that, until then, felt too big for me to tackle.
Sometimes the most challenging times of our lives are the best times to make changes to our diets.
It will always be easier to wait for the sun, moon, and stars to align and have everything in life be perfect before implementing changes, but those changes may end up being the first thing to slip through your hands when life goes back to being crazy and uncertain.
